One of my mentors used to often say that there are two kinds of business owners in the world – the kind that think there are two kinds of people in this world and the kind that don’t. Man, did he think that was funny. All kidding aside, most of you reading this really will fall into one of two camps:
Camp One has wondered if the internet might be something that could actually help their business – but you either aren’t sure if that is true, or aren’t sure how to get started in a way that will lead to effectiveness. Your concern is that, since you are already as busy as can be, you wonder if you can take on the time and/or financial commitments that must be involved in making an online presence work to your advantage. So you have done little to nothing to move your business’ message online.
Camp Two has given this internet thing a shot – only it hasn’t worked out nearly like you had hoped. You have a website that was probably built by some “techy type” who charged you a WHOLE lot of money for the site’s design. In the end, their strength probably lay in their technical ability, but you found their marketing savvy and ability to really understand your unique business to be lacking. Your site probably looks cool, only it hasn’t been updated in forever. The “guru” probably developed your site using some complicated package that he spent hundreds of dollars on and years learning. No one in your company can figure out how to update the site, and the guru is either hard to pin down or too expensive to call on for the regular changes all successful sites require, so nothing happens. You have this regular expense for your website and get nothing, or next to, from it.
That’s where Thompson Northwest comes in. Back in the day, I spent time in both these camps. First, overwhelmed by how to take the plunge, then frustrated that I could see how our website should be able to help our business but unable to get the assistance I needed from the “expert” we hired. I finally got fed up enough that I bit the bullet and learned what the IT crowd knows, but have always kept my focus on what makes the cash register ring. And now I share this info with people just like you.
Your website can be a valuable tool for your business. The reality in 2010 is that your customers use their computers to research almost every purchase they make anymore. You simply have to be available to them when they are shopping for you. I can help you do just that – and every single conversation we have will be in actual English instead of Computer Speak.
Together we will:
- Develop a website you can keep up to date all by yourself – without having to know HTML. You can also delegate the maintenance to your employees or have me keep you current.
- Implement the current hot strategies to improved search engine ranking. Be listed first! And we’ll move with the search engines to maintain your spot.
